DeMulling and Slama Insurance (DSI) was founded in January 2016, when Rick DeMulling and Brett Slama partnered together in an effort to build a business that filled a void in the insurance industry. Our ability to provide tailored coverage from a variety of national and regional insurance companies to service the needs of individuals and small-to-mid-sized businesses across the country provides meaningful solutions to a market segment that is typically under served. Where DSI differentiates ourselves is in our ability to form a personal relationship with our insureds. We take the time to get to know them, their exposures and build a policy off these conversations. We firmly believe service is our product. We take pride in being able to provide outstanding service to our clients, family and friends.

Rick DeMulling, Founder

Rick Demulling, Born in Cheney, Washington attended the University of Idaho on a football scholarship, where he was a four-year starter and three-time All-Big West selection. Rick moved to Indianapolis in 2001 when the Indianapolis Colts selected him in the 2001 NFL Draft. Rick was an integral member of the Colts offensive line until 2005, when he signed with the Detroit Lions and later the Washington Redskins before retiring in 2009.

Upon retiring from the NFL, Rick entered the Real Estate world as a Keller Williams Realty Indy Metro West partner. Rick is also an investor partner in several Indianapolis area businesses and an active member of the Retired NFL Players Association. Rick takes pride in Demulling & Slama Insurance being a full-service agency with the ability to market and deliver strong results meeting client objectives in risk management and cost savings.

Rick and his wife (Danielle) are residents of Indianapolis, Indiana. Where they raise their three children (Corinth, Jeremiah, and Grace). Rick is an avid traveler and remains active in the community and his church.

Brett Slama, President

Brett earned his Bachelors of Science from Butler University in Business Administration and Marketing. Brett was an All-Pioneer League performer for Butler University’s Football team and was awarded the Bulldog Tenacity Award in 2000. Brett’s career path began in sports marketing, where he represented properties and teams in the Indy Racing League, NASCAR, and The National Basketball Association.Brett left the sports and entertainment industry for the insurance and risk management industry in 2005, where he has worked as a producer, underwriter and agency principal.

Brett’s insurance career began with Liberty Mutual Insurance, where he was an award-winning personal lines producer for the state of Indiana and The Midwest Region. Brett transitioned from the personal lines industry to the commercial insurance industry as both an independent agent and direct writer for national programs within the Retail Hardware Industry, Real Estate, and Habitational Industry, Advanced Manufacturing, Wood Products Manufacturing and represented a variety of trade association programs for traditional retail businesses.

Brett started with DeMulling and Slama Insurance, where he helped expand the brand by opening offices in New York, California, Pennsylvania, and Indianapolis. Brett now serves as the operating partner for DeMulling and Slama Insurance, where his focus lies in growing the office through new business production and retention and the daily office management duties within the growing staff and national program administration.

Brett is a passionate supporter of Butler University Athletics as well as an avid golfer and traveler. As a native son to Zionsville and Carmel, Brett has volunteered within various non-profit groups in Indianapolis and enjoys giving back to his community. Brett and his wife (Ellen) live in Carmel, Indiana, where they remain active with their family and friends.
